Dr. Brast Lectures in Australia
Dr. Alan Brast recently returned from Australia, where he spent two weeks. He spoke to over 90 clinicians attending The Australian Mind Academy in Brisbane, addressing Understanding Suicide, The Mind / Body Connection, and Managing Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.
Dr. Brast has been lecturing in Australia for 17 years. He began in 2003 after giving a presentation on Understanding Suicide at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. One of the doctors in the audience was from Australia and was the president of the Australian Health Association (AHA). He invited Dr. Brast to come to Sydney to do several presentations to new practicing clinicians on the behavior of suicide. That initial speaking tour in Australia went extremely well and he was invited back the following year to be the keynote speaker at their full nation conference, held every five years. At that event, he met a myriad of clinicians who work with emotional trauma and was asked to expand the menu of his lectures, including Understanding Suicide, The Mind / Body Connection, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), Navigating Life’s Changes, Cancer For Two, and Managing Insomnia. The initial invitation has become an annual event where he presents these talks to each year’s new crop of clinicians.
Dr. Brast was joined by his oldest grandson, Ben, who just completed his doctorate at Oxford University, where he is now teaching.
